CATEGORY II: EQUAL VOICES
Repertoire
Each competing choir must perform:
- one (1) Renaissance/Early Baroque Period composition a cappella
(NOTE: Pieces originally written for mixed choir and arranged for equal voices are allowed.); - one (1) Romantic Period composition (may be accompanied by the piano);
- one (1) 20th – 21st century composition a cappella; and
- one (1) freely chosen composition a cappella.
Guidelines
- The Equal Voices Category is open to T(T)B(B) singing in equal voices or S(S)A(A).
- Singers of any age are welcome to join this category.
- The competing choir must have a minimum number of four (4) singers, while the maximum number of singers is forty (40). However, the number of singers may be reduced for the Renaissance piece.
- The total performance time, excluding entrance and exit, must be a minimum of 16 minutes and must not exceed 18 minutes.
- Only the Romantic piece may be accompanied by the piano. Otherwise, all songs must be performed a cappella or with pitchless instruments.
- Choreography is allowed.
- The use of microphones and other sound amplification is not allowed.
